Williamsburg, VA trip

The following pictures were taken between June 29th and July 5th when Jeff and I were on vacation in Williamsburg, VA and the surrounding areas. It was a great trip and was over way too soon. I wish we had taken more pictures, but neither of us are the ones who remember to take pics hehe. (This is still a work in progress. I have more pictures to add later!)

Colonial Williamsburg

The foyer of the Governor's Palace. I think they said there were at least 500 various types of weapons on display, which were used to show his power.

One of the rooms in the Governor's Palace.

The governor's dining table! They made sure to point out the ice cream, since it was a rare thing to have back then (in the 1770's).

This was our tour guide. Here we are in the ballroom of the Governor's Palace.

This was in the room after the ballroom and I thought it was a pretty odd looking piano type thing. I haven't looked up what exactly it is yet.

This was outside the Governor's Palace. "Diev et mon droit" is French for "God and my right." It has been the motto of the English/British monarchs since Henry V (1413–1422). (source)

This is the inside of the Magazine, which stored all the weapons and various military supplies for the government.

This was the meeting room for the Governor and the other King-appointed officials in the Capitol building.

This is the outside of the Capitol.

The courthouse.

The yard around the Magazine. They were getting ready to do a reinactment of what it was like to be in the militia. Jeff and I participated and I'm glad I wasn't in the militia or ever will be.
